Readers, just a quick thread here to publish my official picks for the prior year in film, per my annual tradition, well before the Oscars’ ceremony even begins.

2023 was certainly a memorable year in film; and, though as I disclaim on my data site (where you can find all my official picks) there are some 2023 titles I still have yet to finish, I feel confident that the picks I’ve chosen given those few exceptions do represent the best of this past year in film.
